The Alliance Spring Youth Leadership Summit

The Alliance Spring Youth Leadership Summit is a day-long series of workshops and discussion spaces that allow student groups an opportunity to brainstorm and skill-share for different Day of Silence actions. Workshop focuses will include the absence of LGBTQ+ figures in school curricula, exploring language use with an expanding number of gender identities, the role of silence within protest movements, adultism within GSA spaces, and more!

If you have questions or need additional information, please contact Nat Duran, Youth Engagement Coordinator.

What is Day of Silence?

The GLSEN Day of Silence is a national event, led by students to bring attention to anti-LGBTQ, bullying, name-calling and harrassment in schools. This year's Day of Silence will be on Friday, April 15th. For more information about the Day of Silence, please visit GLSEN's website.

Volunteers Needed

Summit volunteers have the opportunity to help in several different capacities: running the registration table, setting up the physical space for the day, setting and cleaning up food for breakfast and lunch, directing attendees to the workshops and helping us clean/pack up at the end of the day. We ask volunteers to commit to a 4-hour window and they are welcome to attend workshops during scheduled downtime. The Chicago summit is scheduled for 10:00 – 3:30 (volunteer hours 9:00-4:30) and the Springfield summit is scheduled for 9:00 – 5:00 (volunteer hours 8:00-6:00).

If you are interestd in volunteering at this year's Youth Summit, please go to the registration page
