Thank You All For Your Support!
2015 has been an amazing year - thanks to our donors, youth leaders, board, and staff for their endless dedication to the Alliance’s mission to promote safety, support, and healthy development for LGBTQ youth in Illinois. 2015 has brought attention to the significant need for trans inclusion and non-discrimination policies for students throughout the state.
This year, we were proud to work with and honor Berwyn South School District 100; they are an example of what can happen when a school district is proactive in adopting inclusion procedures for transgender and gender expansive students. The Alliance, through our trainings for administrators, teachers, and staff continue to ensure districts and schools have the proper resources to advocate for inclusion; and inspire youth to transform their schools and communities into safe and affirming learning environments.
Will you please join us by making a year-end gift to Illinois Safe Schools Alliance?
LGBTQ youth remain at the center of the Alliance’s work. Our programs, such as Youth Summit and Action Camp, as well as our support of Gay Straight Alliance's (GSAs) across the state, provides a chance for students to convene, learn about social justice, and support one another in becoming advocates in their own schools. Recently, our youth organizers, attended an emergency board meeting at Palatine School District 211 to show support for a transgender student who was fighting for the right to use the locker room of the gender with which she identifies. With your support and year-end gift to the Illinois Safe Schools Alliance, we can continue to impact the lives of LGBTQ youth across the state.
