The Board and staff of Crossroads Fund have selected the Illinois Safe Schools Alliance to receive the Ron Stable Award for Activism. The award will be presented to the Alliance at Seeds of Change, Crossroads Fund annual benefit, on Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Chicago Cultural Center.
Crossroads Fund has always had a deep commitment to supporting LGBTQ communities, and advancing LGBTQ right plays a central role in Crossroads Fund's strategy of supporting cross-issue organizing. The founders and first Board of Directors of Crossroads Fund were a diverse group, including lesbians and gay men. Crossroads Fund was the first foundation funders in Chicago of many groups working for LGBTQ rights. Crossroads Fund was also an early funder of the Coalition for Education on Sexual Orientation (CESO) and GLSEN, which merged to become the Illinois Safe Schools Alliance. "Your work has vastly expanded the network of Gay/Straight Alliances across the state, while influencing legislation that will help protect all students from bullying regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity/expression", said the Crossroads Fund.
Please consider joining the Alliance on April, 4 2014 at Seeds of Change as we accept this award. Tickets available HERE.
