THE ALLIANCE IS SEARCHING!

PHIMC seeks two VISTAs to support the work of Illinois Safe Schools Alliance (the Alliance). A program of PHIMC, the Alliance promotes  safety, support, and healthy development for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ+) youth in Illinois schools and communities, through advocacy, education, youth organizing, and research. While these positions are based in Chicago, as an Alliance VISTA, they will build the Illinois Safe Schools Consortia in Northern Illinois. Through this consortium, VISTAs will increase the Alliance’s impact by providing the tools and resources to equip experts in each Regional Office of Education (ROE) in Northern Illinois to provide training, advocacy, and technical assistance services to their respective school districts. 

Development and Outreach VISTA – As the development and outreach VISTA, you will build systems and tools to establish consistent and reliable communication between PHIMC and the consortia, establish a diverse portfolio of funding opportunities for the consortia, create toolkits and a train-the-trainers system to create sustainability, cultivate and develop a network of partner organizations for the consortia, and build capacity at PHIMC to increase development and fundraising efforts. Professional Development VISTA – As the Professional Development and Training VISTA, you will build capacity at PHIMC to increase the Alliance’s professional development and training efforts, develop a system to evaluate the effectiveness of professional development work in the consortia, and create toolkits and a train the trainers system to create sustainability.
